ESL Night

On Thursday, October 9th, Shuford ESL families were treated to cake and ice cream on the patio at our Annual ESL night. Students and families met in Shuford's media center as Mrs. Hopper introduced a former Newton Conover Middle school student Linda Santellan who was our guest reader for bi-lingual story time.

Students took home a free Scholastic book and colored bookmarks while parents were introduced to the importance of reading in one's home language and reading as a family to boost comprehension in reading and other subject areas.

We also welcomed former students of Shuford's ESL department who came along to help serve and share in the fun. Thanks to all who came out!
